AIDS
Avoid the scare, be aware

The project’s aim is to provide the appropriate information concerning HIV/AIDS to the Mauritian Society, particularly to the youth by interacting them and also to pass a message to the population that HIV AIDS is a matter that concerns all of us and we should take the appropriate precautions. Furthermore one real problem in Mauritius is that when people don’t get the appropriate information on HIV AIDS, all kind of perceptions arise towards those living with this virus which makes it even harder to reduce the rate of transmission; So “AIDS: Avoid the scare… Be Aware” team composed of 30 international students and 6 local students have the objective to create an awareness mode (providing the right information) towards the population via the different forms of awareness activities mainly secondary schools and public places. Another part of the project would be to provide interns with NGO placement to empower NGOs to continue their formidable job.

Cancer
Avoid the scare, be aware

My team and I are working in the Cancer project to sensitise the Mauritian public. We wantto make them realise how this topic is of a great concern nowadays. Therefore, we aretargeting mostly teenagers (girls) and women due to the fact that they are the ones who arethe most affected. Knowing very little about this disease, they will get to learn more aboutcancer and solutions in case of minor cases.During the first two weeks of realisation, we hope being provided with trainings from NGOsfor around 20 international participants, concerning the issue. Finally, from weeks 3 to 8, wehope being able to achieve all our objectives by reaching out to a maximum of peoplethrough promotional materials and goodies during both the physical and virtual campaigning.

Diabetes
Avoid the scare, be aware

The concept of the WALK OUT OF DIABETES project is mainly to create general awareness of diabetes (that is about the two types of existing diabetes, causes, preventions and precautions). Also, the project will aim to sensitize people about the pre-diabetes problem which is the first stage of diabetes but is often ignored by Mauritians. The focus will be mainly youngsters and children since they are the first ladder of the population and the future of our nation beholds of them. Also, with the help of about 15 interns who will work on the project with team members, surveys will be carried out on the health lifestyle of people and whether it can contribute to having diabetes. In order to know more on diabetes, sessions will be organized by NGOs. And also, an event will be organized.
